Smelly Cat Tutorial (Friends TV Show)

Are there any Friends fans here? This is going to sound crazy, but on average, I watch 4 Friends episodes a week. For any fans of Friends or of the character Phoebe Buffay, we have the tutorial for Smelly Cat here today!

If you don't know how to play E chord, I explain it briefly in the tutorial, but I also created a video JUST for mastering that nasty E chord. You can see that tutorial below

If you're here, that means you're ready for the tutorial. To have a successful experience with this video, please do the following
  • Tune your ukulele (you should do this every time before you practice).
  • Trim the nails on your chord hand (to make sure you curve your hand nicely).

Not too long ago, I was hosting a livestream on YouTube when the community jokingly asked for me to do a Smelly Cat tutorial. We all thought it was funny at the time and then forgot about it.

A few months later I had my friend Diana over at my house. I had asked her if she would like to film an unboxing video with me. She agreed to bring her artwork to make our backdrop look beautiful and she helped me unbox a new Enya uke.

Diana is not a ukulele player, but she is a huge music fan. When the ukulele was out of the box (before it was tuned), Diana started singing Smelly Cat. The viewers laughed a lot about that and, jokingly again, asked for a tutorial.

The next day I went to the subreddit thread and saw that someone had posted the official Smelly Cat video. That was the tipping point for me and what ultimately made me decide to film the tutorial.
